INSIDE TRACK

We Hear: Florence and the Machine, Ashley Alexiss, Steven Tyler & more…

By Inside Track | Friday, June 24, 2011 | www.bostonherald.com | The Inside Track

• That “Dog Days” singer Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine fame saw stars yesterday before her gig in the MIX Lounge at the Hard Rock Cafe. As the British songbird jumped up on stage to begin her set, the Grammy gal whacked her head on a speaker and had to delay her show for a few minutes to ice her noggin. But Flo returned to the stage shortly thereafter, and managed to rock the Bank of America Pavilion last night. That Florence is a Machine!

• That Playboy model Ashley Alexiss will host an event at the Hard Rock Cafe tonight to debut songs and a video from Can’t Quit, a new LP by Worcester recording artist My Silent Bravery featuring Matthew Wade. Nikolas Metaxas of “The X Factor” and Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Famers Herb Reed & the Platters also will perform at the event to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

• And that Boston Common maggie hoped to bring Steven Tyler to Nantucket for their annual summer soiree, but the party planners decided to stick closer to home. The “American Idol” judge instead will headline the mag’s invitation-only hoedown at the House of Blues Wednesday. Sounds like a wailof a good time!

Listen to the Track on Greg Hill’s morning show today on WAAF 107.3 and 97.7 FM.

WORCESTER TELEGRAM AND GAZETTE

We received a note from Worcester music-scene stalwart Matthew Wade, of My Silent Bravery, about some exciting things the band has in store.

“I have a new record coming out at the end of the month entitled, “Can’t Quit,’” writes Wade. “It is my most personal record to date, and I feel it is far and away my best work yet. It has a little something for everyone – rock, pop, funk, reggae, even a little country. I never thought I would be writing that but I am.”

The album was produced by Anthony Resta (Collective Soul, Guster, Shawn Mullins, etc) and features guest musicians such as Charlie Ferren, Robert Holmes, and popular recording artist Matisyahu. The album will be available at iTunes and other major online retailers June 28.

Wade says the band will be debuting some songs from the album Friday at the Boston Hard Rock Café, as well as unveiling the music video for the album’s title track.

“The best part of the night,” adds Wade, “is that is a benefit show with all proceeds going to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. It also just so happens that at 12 midnight on the 24th I will be turning 32, and can’t think of a better way to spend my Bday than with all of you!”

Happy birthday! Can’t wait to hear the new album! (VDI)

BOSTON HERALD

Local rock band My Silent Bravery’s release party for new LP “Can’t Quit” is doubling as a benefit for the Wounded Warrior Project on Friday at the Hard Rock.

It’s a great cause. But sometimes great causes don’t bring in the crowds. So the band has wisely taken out an insurance policy in guest host Playboy Playmate Ashley Alexiss (who just shot a 2012 calendar with proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project).

The night will also feature a crazy diverse bill: Nikolas Metaxas, Ms. Carol O’Shaughnessy and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Herb Reed’s Platters.

The details: Friday, June 24, 2011 at 8 p.m. Minimum donation to the Wounded Warrior Project is $20. Hard Rock Café, 22-24 Clinton Street; Boston, MA 02109; 617-424-7625
